Dexter Bays Literary Works was born of a love of story, and a love of dogs.
Its first release, Canine Heaven, was published in 2018 by Morgan James Publishing.
Canine Heaven is an endearing story of hope fulfilled in the lives of two canine friends for life.
In the book, two dogs—Quito and Ben—search for a new home after having been abandoned, again.
Recognizing the poverty and frailty of Ben, Quito sets out on his own to find a dog-loving family who will adopt the two of them.
Through a series of trials and disappointments, Quito meets a man in a cowboy hat whom he hopes will offer him and Ben a permanent home.
When the man informs Quito that he already has six dogs and could not adopt him, Quito’s hopes are dashed.
Why couldn’t he and Ben be as lucky as the other six dogs?
Or… would an unexpected guest change this cowboy’s mind the following morning?
Based on a true story, themes of friendship, perseverance, compassion and sacrifice abound as Canine Heaven celebrates the experience of finding a true home abounding in love and support.

Dexter Bays Literary Works handmade Round Belly and Tall Belly coffee mugs are available in 10 ounce and 14 ounce sizes, in either the Midnight with Sky Blue White coloring, or the Cinnamon with Dijon White coloring.
Each mug is handmade by Deneen Pottery, lead free, useable in microwaves, dishwashers, ovens, and freezers. Moving mugs from one extreme temperature to another will cause mugs to crack. Care must also be exercised in handling and holding as mugs could crack or break if dropped. A Note from the Author
It has been my privilege to enjoy the companionship of humanity’s best friend throughout my lifetime. Each canine has modeled for me the divine attribute of love displayed in their desire for communion, their joy in reunion, their heart’s contentment amid time together, their steadfast loyalty, their readiness to defend, and their willingness to forgive and mend again. Perhaps this is the underlying reason my talented and beautiful wife Liz and I find great joy in creating Canine Heaven for our dogs, who were once abandoned, orphaned, abused, or for sale. At the end of the day, we are the ones most blessed. For regardless of how far away we may have traveled, or how long we may have been apart, upon our return our dogs are always happy to see us. That, in turn, makes us happy too!
